About
Deborah Stachowic
artist | teacher | gardener
Living in Italy has been my dream for many years, ever since I first visited, spending 3 ½ months traveling solo in cities, towns, and the Italian countryside. While sightseeing, I learned so much about Italy, and to love the history, culture and people. I also was able to spend time painting what I saw in watercolors.
As an artist and painter for 50 years, and a teacher for 40 years, I have created and taught in many mediums. Watercolors, acrylic and beeswax encaustic, and also enjoy fusing glass in my kilns. Art making is a wonderful process and being able to share both the results and how to make it is a joy.
Currently I am in the process of purchasing and moving into a property in the Italian countryside of Umbria with red and white grape vineyards, and a 300 olive tree grove on 27 acres. This is a B & B and agriturismo business located in Guardea, Umbria. With my construction trade experience for 40 years as an electrician and carpenter, I feel comfortable with taking care of the property and learning new skills to make wine and more!
There is a chef’s kitchen which I am looking forward to using for cooking, and preserving as I intend to have a huge garden with vegetables, especially tomatoes. I grew 435 lbs of tomatoes in the Pacific Northwest one year! I like to cook, can, put up sauce, jams and pickles, and hope to teach others as well. I envision a huge flower garden both for enjoying and cutting.
I am currently looking for a partner to share with the bounty of the land, and enjoy living la dolce Vita!
