Pam’s Statement
I love to enter into the atmosphere of what I’m painting. When I meet a person, walk into a room, or even pick up an orange, I have a feeling about them. There’s an essence that belongs to just that moment. I get to be with that feeling as I translate it into the poetry of paint.

Painting the Italian Life
Instructor Pam Ingalls October 2 to October 8, 2010
Throughout history great masters and aspiring students have found inspiration from the rural beauty of Umbria. Join us with painter and instructor Pam Ingalls for an immersion into painting Italian light in the Russian Impressionist tradition. The classes are set up to take each student at their own level through the basics of oil painting - exploring value, color temperature, intensity and edges with still lifes, portraits and interiors. We will examine the light on simple subject matter, and discuss the importance of allowing one’s choice of subject matter to come from within. There will be plenty of time for questions after each lesson.
Limited to: 12 participants
Instructor Bio:
Pam Ingalls is in love with the transforming quality of light on ordinary objects and scenes, and portraits. Raised in Spokane, Washington, she was first inspired by her artist parents, Richard and Marjorie Ingalls. She studied art at the Accademia Di Belle Arti in Florence, Italy and earned an art degree from Gonzaga University in Spokane.
After exploring a few side paths—among them, pursuing social justice aims and building a house—Pam returned to her true passion under the mentorship of Russian Impressionist Ron Lukas. She also has studied with Richard Schmid and Burt Silverman. Her widely collected, award-winning work has been exhibited throughout the United States, Europe, and Africa. Pam lives and works along the shore of The Puget Sound on Vashon Island, Washington, but loves to travel to Italy annually for inspiration.
